Michele Elliot
Artist in Residence
Michele Elliot is a visual artist, educator and occasional writer based in the Illawarra. Her artwork comes out of practice-led research that focuses on materiality and meaning. Michele works with installation, drawing and textiles, and facilitated a range of art projects in community.
She completed a Masters of Fine Art, Sculpture at Monash University. Michele has exhibited widely across Australia, in India and Singapore. She is Artist in Residence at Tender Funerals, a not for profit organisation in Port Kembla.

Kate Disher-Quill
Artist in Residence
Kate Disher-Quill is a Melbourne based artist working across photography, film, publication and multimedia. As a visual communicator she is drawn to weaving stories into art to explore themes reflected in her community and the wider Australian society. Since 2010 she has exhibited in numerous group and solo shows around the country and her publications have been distributed in leading bookstores and art institutes including Art Gallery of NSW and National Gallery of Victoria.
Kate’s book Earshot, published in 2019 by Black Inc, portrays the myriad of experiences of Deafness and hearing loss, and received high recognition within the arts, health and audiology industries for intersecting art and storytelling with health and education.

Peter Maple
Artist in Residence
Peter Maple is Writer, Actor, Producer, Director from Sydney’s Western Suburbs. He is passionate about storytelling, in its varying forms and guises – believing it to be an intrinsic and integral part of human existence, experiences, and evolution. Peter has worked across the various mediums of feature films, short films, TV, theatre, radio, prose, and more. He holds a Bachelor of Performance from Theatre Nepean (WSU) and a Master of Fine Arts (Writing for Performance) from NIDA.
Peter has a particular expertise in exploring questions of mental health and society. His most recent work, Beast.Belly.Beast, supported by the Armistice Centenary Grant Program, was written in consultation with Australian Military veterans living with PTSD – and the play itself endeavours to mirror that of the often fracturing and confusing mind-space triggered by trauma.

Lucy Klippan
Artist in Residence
Lucy is an experienced illustrator and designer at the UTS Design Innovation Research Centre, with a particular interest in health and social justice. Lucy uses her visual communication expertise to help others achieve their goals, which could include helping to make voices heard, translating complex information into simple visual forms or visual storytelling.
Her work spans a broad spectrum, including illustration and design for print and online publications, creating visual artefacts to promote discussion, through to the design of environmental signage to enhance public spaces in culturally diverse contexts. She works with a range of partners, from academics and researchers to community, public and private sector organisations.

Simone Chua
Artist in Residence
Simone is an internationally exhibiting contemporary installation artist. Simone is principal of the design studio amigo and amigo, co-founder of the environmental group PlasticWise InnerWest and on the organisational board of independent art space Join The Dots. Also currently completing an Artist in Residency at Sphere, whilst producing with her team two all new works Trumpet Flowers for Vivid Sydney and Song Cloud for New Zealand Art Festival.
For the past 5 years Simone has led amigo and amigo to exhibit internationally across, Asia, Europe, South America and the Middle East. Her expertise in lighting design and sculptural form has created connections for collaboration with some of Australia’s leading creatives. Interactions which have further informed her development and desire to explore beyond lighting and deeper into areas of sensory experience. The stories of Simone's works continue to grow in complexity and sophistication as she further enriches her palette with the inclusion of local musicians, researchers and sensory artist.
