Biography

Body mapping experience: I have used body mapping as a research method in my PhD, specifically during workshops with children and families in East London. This has included individual body mapping with children aged 7-12 to explore resilience in middle childhood, as well as group body mapping with children aged 9-16 and their mothers to explore family resilience.

Body mapping content/focus/topic: My PhD is a qualitative exploration of resilience with children and families from minoritised backgrounds, using a socioecological lens to examine the role of environmental factors in shaping resilience. I am using various adaptations of body mapping to capture personal discursive experiences and enabling non-verbal storytelling. The aim is to contribute local knowledge about how resilience is defined and experienced in communities historically excluded from research - in turn contributing to more holistic understandings of resilience.
