Aastha Ahuja

Affiliations: School of Psychology, Western Sydney University

Location: Sydney, Australia

Biography

Aastha Ahuja is a PhD candidate in Psychology at Western Sydney University whose research explores women’s embodied experiences of miscarriage across individualistic and collectivist cultural contexts. Using body mapping as a central arts-based methodology, her work investigates how the embodied experience of grief, loss, identity, and cultural narratives are expressed through the body and through visual storytelling.

Aastha is a psychologist and registered arts-based therapist. Her work is informed by both clinical insight and creative methodologies, with a particular interest in how arts-based methods can make invisible or difficult-to-verbalise experiences visible within research, healthcare, and public discourse.

She is particularly interested in cross-cultural dialogue around women and health and in expanding the methodological possibilities of body mapping within qualitative health research.
